Tapas are like small dishes generally eaten with a glass of wine before diner or sometimes as a diner. The Pays Basque is the home town of this kind of food, so be prepared to eat the most delicious tapas ever. They are everywhere here, all made with local products, and what I like with tapas is that you can try many different as it is always small portions.
Even more typical, the pintxos, I had them at Café Jean around the market place. I particularly liked the « pan con tomate » and the « St Jacques » with basque sausage.
The most delicious discovery was the « croquetas » with ham, a classical of tapas. It’s delicious and soft, very creamy inside and crunchy outside, you have to try it !
Still in the market place area, we tried the restaurant « l’Amiral », where we had delicious oysters and fried squids, also the best ewe cheese ever.
