An incredible show is happening every summer in the very touristic village Les Baux de Provence, under the white rocks, les Carrières de Lumières are full with people all summer. The immersive art experience is set every year, with a different theme. So on the rock walls, paintings, animations are spread everywhere. This year, the theme is The Fantastic and Wonderful World of Bosch, Bruegel and Arcimboldo. With a special shorter show about Georges Méliès, the inventor of cinema and special effects!
So you just stand here, in this huge cave, dark and a bit cold, but suddenly, music and pictures and animations are on every wall, on the ground, on you. You can walk through and change point of view, it’s a unique feeling of total immersion with the artworks.
This is an unusual way to rediscover these paintings, which can first look very ancient and far from today’s sensitivity, by animated like this with the show, it’s a very new and fun way to look at them!
The village des Baux de Provence
After the show, let’s go back to the powerful light of the village les Baux de Provence, between the luminous blue sky and the white rocks. The village is on top of a hill surrounded with rocks and trees, the view is incredible from everywhere. It’s like a doll village, a living Christmas crib, in the pure Provence tradition.
